I'm a freelance writer and business coach and have been helping business owners level up since 2013. I create tools and resources for entrepreneurs to grow their business instead of babysitting it, at Simply Good Business.
When 2020 rolled around, I thought it was going to be a stellar year. 2019 was pretty shitastic and we were not having it for 2020. Then my husband received a life-changing diagnosis in early January. What a way to start the year! And the pandemic hit. Add a few more milestones - my husband turned 50 and our marriage turned 20, plus our youngest got accepted at university and set his moving date for August 30th - and we had a hard time catching our breath.
All of those things - together and independently of each other - made us pause and re-evaluate. Re-calculate. Re-focus. And finally come to the decision that we need and adventure now. Because when we hit retirement age? My husband probably will be walking with a walker or not at all anymore.
Enter the offer to work and live in a beautiful, remote location of British Columbia's Cariboo Region, at a guest ranch that has been my client for many years. Was it serendipity? I don't know. But I do know that it came at the right time, because we jumped on the chance to turn our lives upside down and live a Simply Good Life.
We worked and lived remotely for just over half a year and I documented as much as I could along the way. This blog is the archive of our adventure, and I will always cherish the memories and what I learned along the way.
My Instagram archive is still around, for a series of videos about our minimizing project, let's connect there.
